Delete your Jyotim account
You can delete your Jyotim account, and everything it holds, at any time — from inside the app, or by writing to us if you no longer have the app installed. This page explains both routes, what is deleted, and what is not.
1. Delete from inside the app
This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.
1. Open Jyotim and tap the menu (☰) → Settings. 2. Tap Mera data delete karein. 3. Confirm.
What happens the moment you confirm:
- Your account and your phone number are deleted from our database.
- On your phone, your birth details, profile, puja dedications, practice history and reminders are removed, any scheduled reminders are cancelled, and the encryption key is destroyed — so anything that might remain on the device is permanently unreadable.
- You are signed out. If you open the app again you start from the beginning, as a new user.
This cannot be undone.
2. Delete without the app
If you have uninstalled Jyotim, or cannot open it, email support@jyotim.com with the subject line "Delete my account" and the mobile number you used to sign in.
Because your account is identified by your phone number, we confirm the request by sending a one-time code to that number before deleting anything — so nobody but you can delete your account. Once confirmed, we complete the deletion within 7 days and email you when it is done.
3. Your subscription is separate — cancel it too
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription, because the payment is held by the provider you paid through, not by us:
- Subscribed through Google Play: cancel in the Play Store under Subscriptions.
- Subscribed through a payment mandate (UPI AutoPay or a card): cancel the mandate in your bank or UPI app, under AutoPay or mandates.
If you delete your account and leave the subscription running, the provider will keep charging you. Please cancel first.
4. What is not deleted
- Anonymous usage and crash data cannot be individually deleted, because it is not linked to your identity — we have no way to find "your" records. It contains no name, phone number or birth details. See our Privacy Policy, Section 6.
- Payment records are held by Google Play or our payment partner under their own retention rules. We never hold your card, UPI or bank details.
- A coded "offer used" marker. Introductory offers are once per person. So that a deleted account cannot claim the offer again, we keep a one-way coded form of your phone number — it cannot be turned back into the number — recording only that the offer was used. Nothing else about you stays with it, and it is never shared. See the Privacy Policy, Section 5.
5. Questions
Write to support@jyotim.com. If you are unhappy with how a deletion request was handled, the Grievance Officer contact in our Privacy Policy (Section 6) applies.
